Meet Allison Moore

Experienced in State & National Politics

Born and raised in Corbin, Allison is a 2003 graduate of Corbin High School and a 2007 graduate of the University of Kentucky with a BA in Political Science. While attending UK, Allison completed two internships in the office of U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell and studied abroad at the Universitie de Aix-Marsaille in Aix en Provence, France. Following graduation, Allison was offered a full-time a in Senator McConnell’s leadership office as a staff assistant where she greeted and attended to U.S. Presidents, Senators, dignitaries as well as anyone else meeting with the Senate Republican Leader.

Allison’s charisma, intellect and strong work ethic earned her multiple promotions within the Republican Leader’s office, including Deputy Press Secretary, where she was featured in the Talk Radio industry’s “Talkers Magazine” for her work to keep the industry informed throughout the Obamacare debate in 2009; and Broadcast Communications Advisor, where she was the primary point of contact between the national media and U.S. Senate Republicans. In 2013, she was honored when Senator McConnell offered her the position of Press Secretary on his re-election campaign, which resulted in a 17-point victory.

Gearing up for the 2016 presidential election, the Republican National Committee reached out to Allison shortly after her victory on Sen. McConnell’s campaign with the offer to become their National Press Secretary for the 2016 presidential election, which she was thrilled to accept. In this role, she successfully navigated a contentious primary and worked tirelessly to defeat Hillary Clinton, paving the way for Donald J. Trump to win the presidency.

In return for her work on his campaign, President Trump appointed Allison as a member of the prestigious 12 member “Beachhead” team to incoming U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, whom she had become close with on Senator McConnell’s re-election campaign. Allison aided Secretary Chao through her confirmation hearings and began working as Deputy Director of Political Affairs at the U.S. Department of Transportation on President Trump’s inauguration day, January 20, 2017. She was later promoted to Director of Public Affairs for the Federal Railroad Administration.

While Allison is proud of her success in Washington, D.C., she always knew that she would return home to Corbin when the time came to plant roots for her children. Today, Allison is the Director of Education and Outreach for Horizon Health, a local non-profit organization she helped launch to combat substance use dependency in Southeastern Kentucky. She lives in Corbin with her two daughters, Evelyn and Maria, and ready to put her experience in politics to work on behalf of her community as Corbin City Commissioner.

Fighting The Opioid Crisis

Since returning home to Corbin, Allison has been working to help plan and launch Horizon Health, a locally-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals, families and communities who have been devastated by the Opioid Epidemic in Southeastern Kentucky through both community engagement and the development of a revolutionary campus of clinical care.

In her role as Director of Education and Outreach, Allison works very closely with many existing local organizations, as well as local and state officials, to plan and promote shared initiatives throughout the region. In the Fall of 2019, she launched the #noshame campaign on social media to help eliminate the stigma against addiction treatment and recovery, an issue she is passionate about.

Horizon Health has gained national recognition for their approach in eliminating significant barriers to treatment and recovery. Horizon’s clinical care campus is designed to be a one-stop-shop with onsite medical and behavioral services, as well as its own lab, case management, and child-care services.

In the coming year, Horizon will be opening additional campuses in Whitley and Knox counties, with plans for future expansion into surrounding areas.
